UNSW enjoys the coastal life from Sydney, try the Randwick City Tourism website for a broad overview. The campus is situated at a 20 minute walk (2,5 km) to Coogee beach. This beach is popular for swimming, body-boarding and surfing. From there, going 3 km south is Maroubra beach which is a more serious surf beach, while going 4 km north is Bondi beach, Sydney's most famous beach.

Both Randwick and Coogee are nice neighbourhoods with plenty of shopping facilities, ATM's, cafés and restaurants. Also on campus you can find shops, ATM's and cafés. The workshop takes place before teaching starts, so it will not be too crowded.
